Just a shout-out to my mom who's celebrating her 60th birthday today. No matter when we're away, we always miss someone's special occasion. This time it's Mom's birthday. Next will be my sister's. But we'll bring back gifts! Not sure that makes them feel much better, but know that we'd be there if we could.

We are a single-parent family based in Portland, Oregon but spending the summer in northern Vietnam.
Our triumvirate includes Teresa, Stuart (16) and Audrey (11).
During our travels in Vietnam in 2007, we spent two months volunteering with orphanages in Tam Ky (central Vietnam) and
then lived at Hong Duc University in Thanh Hoa City where Teresa taught English.
The summer '09 adventure will include teaching
once again in Thanh Hoa as well as various volunteer work, including bringing donations to orphanages in Tam Ky, Hoi An, Thanh Hoa.

Thanks for the birthday wish. This has been a rather lonely birthday. Your dad and I are sick with the flu or a really bad cold and are just sitting around trying to recuperate. Hope to be better real soon. Maybe we can celebrate this weekend. Sure miss you guys.
